Rant all you want about it, but it cannot be denied that Facebook is still the number one go-to social media site for most people living in the 21st century. Your coworkers, friends, acquaintances, schoolmates- even your parents (!)- are on it. If you’re new to Facebook and just have gotten your own FB account yet, here is a handy guide to help you with the face login process.
First Step: Go to Facebook’s main page at www.facebook.com on your web browser. We are assuming that you already have your own Facebook account, but if you still don’t have one yet, just fill out the sign-up form on the right side of the page.
Second Step: Check if you’re not on somebody else’s FB account first! If you ever find yourself staring at someone else’s Newsfeed, log them out using the triangle shaped icon on the the upper right side of the page (right next to the lock icon).
Third Step: Type your username that you used for registration and your password. The input boxes for these are located on the top right corner for the page. Do take note that you could also put in your email address and mobile number that are associated with your account. For mobile numbers, make sure that these are confirmed first. You don’t need to enter any symbols or the zeroes that come before the country code.
Fourth Step: There is a checkbox beneath the email/username input area that says “Keep Me Logged In.” Decide if you want to stay logged in onto the site even after you close the browser. If checked, you will automatically go to your Newsfeed once you open the facebook.com page. This is important if you want to forego the hassle of typing your username and password everytime you want to check up something on Facebook. But remember to keep this box unchecked if you’re using a shared computer.
Fifth Step: Hit the log-in button located on the immediate right side of the password input area. Congrats! You now have access to your Facebook account and can now post, like, and share to your heart’s content.
Trouble Logging In?
If you’ve done the steps above and still can’t log in to your Facebook, here are some of the reasons why you’re having trouble.
1. You have capslock on. Your FB password is case sensitive so make sure that capslock isn’t turned on when you type.
2. The mobile number that you used is not confirmed yet. Should you associate a mobile number with your account, Facebook will send a confirmation code to your mobile which you need to enter back at the site. If you haven’t received this code yet, you must have entered the wrong number or you need to wait longer (some countries could take up to 12 hours for the code to arrive).
3. Hackers could’ve taken over your account. If you think that you might have been hacked (either by other people or a virus), just head on over to www.facebook.com/hacked to report your compromised account. Facebook will help you recover it.
